Off to the Klondike! The Search for Gold!!

Klondike gold rush brought revolution in 19th century. Because of the frenzy of gold, the immigrants from Canada and other parts of US came to that place and tried to cope with that hard life. Klondike Gold Rush – held from the period of 1896 – 1899 where more than 100000 immigrants came and prospecting Klondike gold rush or the Alaska Gold Rush in the Yukon region.

In August 1896 three people led by Skookum Jim Mason headed to Yukon River. The journey was too hard and for that consequence out of 100000 only 30000 to 40000 managed to get there. Gold was discovered in many rich deposits along the Klondike River in 1896. But only little group of people (4000) was lucky and struck with gold. Although gold had been discovered in that year but because of harsh weather, winter climate, remoteness of the region the news were taken more than usual time to the outside world.

That news was like a “hot cake” to the people who were struggling to meet both ends. The impact of the news had been created hysteria among young people. Most them started to leave their job and set their mind as a Gold digger.

It was really a very hard journey as they needed to climb over the mountains, frozen river and more than that they had to fight with some uncanny, unfriendly winter, snowstorms and road which were not good and safe for those travelers. But with their huge courage, hard labor and their deep wishes made it possible.
